Our Mission
Hummingbirds’ Collaborative School is an alternative community devoted to using whole child development methods in a holistic approach to education. As passionate Educators, we emphasize sensory integration and a growth mindset to stimulate the imagination, develop fine and gross motor skills, and executive functioning. We provide an exceptional educational experience that meets the needs of each child in a developmentally appropriate manner, integrating critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and the Arts based on a hands-on approach curriculum.

Hummingbirds’ Collaborative School guides children through right speech with songs, poetry, and rich images in storytelling. Storytelling strengthens memory and attention, stimulates the imagination, and builds the foundations of inner picturing for reading. Circle time is another teaching tool in which the teacher and children interact with song, dance, and healthy sensory integration movement. These activities develop the child’s fine and gross motor skills as well as the brain’s executive functions in preparation for academics in the later years.
Hummingbirds’ values and approach to the whole child development curriculum, which incorporates the Spanish language from bilingual teachers in the Preschool, Kindergarten, and the Grades classrooms, provide a child the experience of security, safety, and strengthened self-confidence. Each child’s unique development is nourished and mentored into the importance of connection, collaboration, and being in relationship with oneself, their peers, teachers, and the environment.
The curriculum brings joy and wonder through singing and fosters the child’s curiosity and love of learning. The teacher and child work in collaboration to care for their environment through the daily activities of cooking, sorting, and organizing. Hummingbirds’ Collaborative School provides a strong emphasis on a nature-based exploration through gardening, seasonal festivities as well as outdoor and indoor play.
